Project Title: The phylogeny and Distribution Pattern of the Carnivorous Plant Nepenthes (Nepenthaceae) In Sabah, Malaysia
Biography:
Currently doing my full-time study in Faculty of Tropical Forestry in Universiti Malaysia Sabah under supersion of Dr. Elia Godoong (UMS) and Dr. Noraziyah Abd Aziz Shamsudin (UKM). In the past, doing my master study on Molecular Biology at Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI) in Universiti Malaysia Sabah. The current project focuses on using molecular approaches to identify the Nepenthes species and phylogenyanalysis to place them in the appropriate plant family or clade.Apart from that, to examines the spatial distribution pattern of the Nepenthes plant species in Sabah based on their soil pH, soil nutrient content, elevation, temperature and humidity. This study can aid in developing conservation strategies for Nepenthesespecially endemic and endangered species, and assist the general public in comprehending the Nepenthes as ornamental plants or as daily uses for certain people.
