Growth and Survival of Trees for Riparian Restoration in Forest and Oil Palm Landscapes

My name is Awing Ahip. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry Science (Plantation) from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2020 and am currently pursuing a Master of Science (Forestry) at the Faculty of Tropical Forestry, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. My research focuses on the growth and survival of trees for riparian restoration in forest and oil palm landscapes, with the aim of measuring and comparing the growth performance and survival rates of selected riparian tree species under both land-use types, as well as identifying species with high adaptability and potential for successful riparian restoration across varying landscape conditions.
My current research project, titled “Growth and Survival of Trees for Riparian Restoration in Forest and Oil Palm Landscapes,” aims to measure and compare the growth performance (height and diameter) of selected riparian tree species in forest and oil palm landscapes, assess and compare the survival rates of the planted tree species under both land-use types, and determine suitable species that demonstrate high adaptability and potential for successful riparian restoration in varying landscape conditions. Through this study, I hope to contribute valuable insights toward improving riparian restoration strategies and promoting sustainable forest management in tropical landscapes.
